About This Experience

The Chausathi Yogini Temple in Hirapur, near Bhubaneswar, is a notable 9th-century tantric shrine from the Bhaumakara dynasty, possibly built by Queen Hiradevi. It is one of the few remaining Yogini temples in India and is unique for being hypaethral or roofless. The small, circular temple measures about 25 feet in diameter. Inside, 60 niches hold unique Yogini figures carved from chlorite. At the center, the Chandi Mandap housed a Shiva statue. You can explore this 9th Century Temple through a Heritage Walk with a typical Odisha village Heerapur.
