About This Experience
A tribal tour in Odisha takes visitors through the 'Heartland of Indigenous India,' featuring encounters with some of the most ancient and reclusive tribes on the subcontinent. Odisha is home to 62 officially recognized tribal communities  the highest concentration in India. The weekly haats (markets) in places like Onukudelli, Chatikona, and Kunduli are the lifeblood of tribal commerce and culture. Here, you can witness the Dongria Kondh, Bonda, Gadaba, and Desia Kondh communities in their natural environment. Unlike tourist-heavy destinations, Odisha's tribal regions remain authentic and uncommercialised.

Arrive Bhubaneswar
Explore the 'Temple City'  Lingaraj, Mukteswar, and the Rajarani temples. Overnight.
Bhubaneswar – Puri
Stop at Dhauli (Peace Pagoda) and the artisan village of Pipli (famous for appliqué work). Visit Lord Jagannath Temple. Overnight at Puri.
Puri – Konark – Puri
Proceed to the Sun Temple (a UNESCO site) and also explore Konark museum and fishermen village.
Puri – Chilika Lake – Taptapani
Visit Chilika Lake for birdwatching at Mangalajodi. Continue to Taptapani hot springs. Overnight.
Tribal Villages
Explore tribal communities in the southern highlands, visiting Kutia Kondh and Desia Kondh settlements.
Rayagada – Chatikona (Wednesday)
Visit the Chatikona Weekly Market, where the Dongria Kondh tribe descends from the Niyamgiri hills to trade.
Similiguda – Onukudelli (Thursday)
The most iconic market. See the Bonda (the most primitive tribe in India) and Gadaba tribes.
Jeypore – Kunduli (Friday)
Visit Kunduli, the largest market for the Paraja tribes.
